How to copy contents of Address Book card to clipboard? jim532 - 02:57pm Feb 8, 2010 PSTI would like to be able to find a card, then copy all the contents of the card to the clipboard for pasting into another application. Often I'd like to include someone's contact information and other notes in an email. Used to be able to do this years ago in other generations of the OS. But I'm not seeing it in the Snow Leopard version of Address Book.

Go to the File menu, and Export the address as a VCard. You can attach
this to your email. Almost any address book program on Linux, Windows,
or Mac will be able to read the format of that file and automatically
import it into that program's address book.
This could probably made into an Automator workflow into a new service
for the Address Book application.

Thanks, David,
This doesn't give me much of a chance to edit the info or delete personal info when I just want to quickly email someone's phone and physical address to a field tech's iPhone, but I guess it will have to do.

After exporting the card (File/Export), open the vCard with TextEdit. You get some unwanted header items, but the info is there. If you want the "Note" on the card to be exported, don't forget to set the vCard preference that way in Address Book preferences.

Re: How to copy contents of Address Book card to clipboard?
Far easier (am I missing something in the question?) is to simply select the entire card, or as much as you want of it on the screen, copy either using the menu or a keyboard shortcut, and then paste. I pasted into MSWord, and I pasted into Mail. It ALL comes across, without all the ridiculous and unneeded clutter that comes with opening the exported card. Admittedly I am running 10.5.8, but it works perfectly in this version. Has Snow Leopard disabled this?
