Leopard's image icon preview

Leopard displays a frame (with background) around image files in
Finder's icon view. This prevents me from seeing the transparency of
images and how they will appear against any background besides white.
Anyone know how to disable this "feature"?

Coverflow? Quicklook? Column previews? They all show the images
without borders.

That's all true, but the nice thing about icon view is that you can
scan a fairly large number of images very quickly using it.

Still interested in a way to disable the frames. I poked around some
in the bowels of the OS but couldn't find anything.
