if the iPhone is running 3.0 you can copy the SMS and paste it into
Notes or into an email.

Or you can go the low-tech, no added software, takes forever route and
screen capture the messages from the iPhone. Press and release the
"Home" and "Power" buttons to take a picture of the iPhone screen,
repeat as needed and print the photos after syncing.
Not pretty, but free!

Remember you can make screenshots of items on an iPhone: hold down the
Power button and the Home button.
Transfer the screenshots to iPhoto then print.

How? I have not been able to select any text out of an SMS message.

Tap and hold on an individual chat bubble and the copy option pops up. It doesn't look like you can select within the message though.

Sorry, I was confusing AIM with SMS. copying SMS works fine.

I use Mobile Sync Browser to save all my SMS conversations. It can save other info as well, if you upgrade. Handy program, and the developer responded quickly and helpfully when I had a problem.
