Exporting an SMS message to a text file from iPhone

[avcomlab]avcomlab - 06:44am Jul 7, 2009 PST

I was wondering if it is at all possible to export an SMS message from an iPhone to a computer text file so it can be printed. I have been bombed with about 20 malicious SMS texts by a person. I need to get the messages off my phone and thought if I could send them to a friends iPhone there may be an app that would get them into a printable form. Can anyone suggest a way?

[The Missing Sync for iPhone from Mark/Space will do this - it provides an SMS log that shows them all on your Mac. I don't see a Print command in that app, but you can export one or more messages to a text file and print them from another app. -Adam]

if the iPhone is running 3.0 you can copy the SMS and paste it into
Notes or into an email.

Or you can go the low-tech, no added software, takes forever route and
screen capture the messages from the iPhone. Press and release the
"Home" and "Power" buttons to take a picture of the iPhone screen,
repeat as needed and print the photos after syncing.

Not pretty, but free!

Remember you can make screenshots of items on an iPhone: hold down the
Power button and the Home button.

Transfer the screenshots to iPhoto then print.

How? I have not been able to select any text out of an SMS message.

Tap and hold on an individual chat bubble and the copy option pops up. It doesn't look like you can select within the message though.

Sorry, I was confusing AIM with SMS. copying SMS works fine.

I use Mobile Sync Browser to save all my SMS conversations. It can save other info as well, if you upgrade. Handy program, and the developer responded quickly and helpfully when I had a problem.
