Telephone Messaging Software

[jslavin]jslavin - 06:14pm Oct 27, 2006 PST

Try as I might, I can't seem to find any basic Telphone Messaging Software for the Mac. I'd like a program that could be run on all our computers on the LAN and the secretaries could take a phone messaging that would be immediately available to me and my partner. It doesn't need to be part of a huge program with lots of other functions. I just want a program that will do this one thing. When I search, there are several programs that do this on Windows. I don't see any that do this on the Mac.

I'm not sure what you are asking for. Are you asking for something that
allows your secretary to send you telephone messages on something other
than a pad of paper, or are you asking for an actual voice mail system?

MessageMan takes the place of phone message pads. It uses strong
encryption methods to keep messages private, and the program can
communicate across multiple OS X user accounts, and across multiple
computers through a LAN. You only need to purchase one registration
number for each MessageMan group. Each group has an unlimited number of
mailboxes, which can be accessed over all LAN connected computers and all
OS X accounts.

Price: $10

Parliant's PhoneValet is a $170 telephony system for Mac OS X. PhoneValet
is a hardware and software solution that answers and keeps track of voice
mail. Connecting via USB, the system offers a phone book with
voice-activated dialing, call timing and logging, call screening (with
spoken CallerID), and support for AppleScript.

PhoneValetıs call logging feature keeps a time record of all incoming and
outgoing calls so that you can bill for your time quickly and easily.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Telphone Messaging Software", so
this may not be what you're looking for. I use PhoneValet
Anywhere (hardware/software combo). I can retrieve voice
messages from any computer on our network. (Or even anywhere on
the internet if I configure my router accordingly.)

I love it, we no longer have to take messages for each other.
Everyone just checks the web page to see if they have messages.

Re: Telephone Messaging Software

MessageMan looks like what I want. I want this to work on a Lan, but I can't seem to get it to work right. I post on one computer and it doesn't show up on the other computer. There isn't anyway I can see to print out a log of the messages.

Plus, it hasn't been updated since 2003 which makes me wonder if it's being actively developed. It's not even mentioned on the Oranged home page. You have to have the direct link to find it.

Also not updated for a while, but did you take a look at Wywo ? Very simple and cheap and it might do the trick for you.
