Pathetic Nostalgia for Old Chips

[Kahrl, Clyde]Clyde Kahrl - 11:51am Oct 6, 2006 PST

I have piles of old SIMMS (and old motherboards) and I can't figure out what to do with them. You can make earrings out of SIMMS, but there are just too many. The funny thing is, that a lot of this stuff still works, but (now that sawtooths are about $150 on eBay) there are not many things I can think of for this stuff to do. What can I do with old SIMMS?

-----2d topic:

I have a couple of DIMMs from my daughter's and my laptop. Her computer did not recognize hers. My computer acted funny for a while until I replace the RAM and now hasn't crashed in almost a year. Is there anything you can do with new RAM that you are a little unsure about? (put it in a slower machine and "underclock it").

You could always offer it on a local Freecycle(TM) group. To find
the group nearest you go to www.freecycle.org

This is an online free recycling/gifting movement designed to keep
tangible items out of landfill....a lot of computer parts get tossed
out and there are many people who use an old part :-)

Cheers
