Notification of incoming calls works only once after restart

Jessie Dasher - 07:28am Jul 13, 2006 PSTI have a 2005 Mac mini, with built in Apple modem, running Mac OS X 10.4.6 and dial up internet. I use the Notify of incoming calls option in the modem setup of Internal Modem of Networks. It works correctly on my wife's ibook G3 but on the mini it only works for the first network connection after a restart. Once you disconnect and reconnect the "Notify of incoming calls" feature no longer works.
After some investigation I found that the "AppleModemOnHold.app" is not lauching on sequential commands to connect to the internet. I can manually launch this app everything works as expected. Which give a work around.
Any ideas on why it is not autolaunching launching and/or how to fix?
I put this on Apple discussion board but recieved no replies. I think many people do not have a problem with this feature because I could not find any current discussion about it. I suspect it has something to do with Launchd.

Jesse, Actually I think there are many who have the problem or don't know the service could work. It seems as though the subject were censured. I tried desperately to get the incoming call notification to work but my ISP would not admit there was such a thing available. I don't have call waiting any more, so can't test your experience. If its possible to get it to work reliably-- even with the work-around it would be of great interest to me, and I know others who would like the service if it can be demonstrated to make it work reliably and how. Apple deferred to the phone company. The royal run-around. Thanks for posting. We can't afford satellite internet and their is no other option but dialup here. Feel free to write me off list. I don't even know how to find the Finder any more, let alone how to launch AppleModemOnHold.app! :-( And, if any one has any ideas, or knows why Modem-on-Hold has been scrapped, please don't hold back. I have been using it for a month with no problem so long as I manually launch "AppleModemOnHold.app".
I feel it would be a simple fix. Exspecially since it works on my wife's iBook correctly.
