Security Update causing Mail to crash? henryoddie (apparently) - 02:56pm May 30, 2006 PSTvia emailAfter down loading the latest security upgrade has anyone discovered that
Apple Mail has been affected.
Since I down loaded I have been unable to write messages in Mail. In other
respects Mail is fine but when I reply or start a new message (not the
addresses or subject) on typing the *second* letter - not the first, note
- Mail just crashes. Happens every time now. I have also noticed that Safari
is somewhat flaky, crashing at odd times.
Anybody had similar problems?

No such problems here.

I did have something similar, though not on this update. Repairing
permissions fixed the problem

Henry,
I, too, had problems with mail as well as a few problems with Safari
since that same security update.
MAIL: I was unable to access the same mail servers (both Apple and
AT&T) to get my mail. It was so flakey that I reset my accounts all
over again and then, to top it off, I was also unable to send mail
through AT&T! I got AT&T to reset my account on their end and all is
now well.
SAFARI: Now, when I get an email confirmation notice in which I must
"click here" to confirm that I am who I am to a site that I just
signed on to, I get a Safari message after clicking and going into
Safari automatically that says something about too many redirects. I
have had to seek "human" help to get it done since the security update.

I have constantly troubles with mail. Not importing mail, double
importing some mail, not recognising signatures.
I get crazy from that app recently

I also am wanting to throw a brick through the screen due to troubles with Mail. Double, even triple imports, repeat imports after deleteing, taking wooly mammoth amounts of time to download. Any explanations/fixes. I did not do the latest security update after reading of a few complications with Mail.

Re: Security Update causing Mail to crash?
To add to my Mail troubles since the security update, when I delete
messages sometimes they come back into my mail list again. Also,
this happens to me EVERY DAY!!

I have these problems with the Mail plus mac.com combination; not
with mail doing IMAP with our servers in two other accounts. It
seems related to leaving mail running through automatic checks when
it is having trouble connecting to or exchanging data with the
mac.com IMAP server. So I try not to do that.
More annoying is the intense confusion Mail has over what is a
signature and what is message body (the old change-account-or-sig-and-
some-of-body disappears in a reply trick). Rumor has it that Apple
is finally fixing this one--or trying to--in 10.4.7.
Neither of these is new with the most recent security update (or any
update this year or last year).
