Setting window layout on discs and disk images

This article reminded me of a recent problem Jamie Zawinski had with
setting the Finder view on .dmg files used to distribute software.

He posted the question and from the comments he derived a solution that
worked for him. He does a bunch of stuff that I think is only pertinent
to the kind of .dmg he wants but the important thing is the .DS_Store
file contains the record for a folder's view settings.

Many of the suggestions involve a fair amount of command line work but
the beauty of those is you can just drop them a script to re-use each
time you need to make a new disk.
