SquirrelMail vs. 10.4.5 Server

[Pepper, Chris]Chris Pepper (apparently) - 11:30am Mar 6, 2006 PST
via email

I just took the 10.4.5 Server and Security updates, and
SquirrelMail stopped working. When I (or another user) try to view a
message, it eventually times out in the main frame with:

>Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in
>/usr/share/squirrelmail/src/read_body.php on line 98

Is anyone else seeing this? Is anyone else using Apple's
SquirrelMail on a fully-patched system?

Apple's discussion boards indicate it's a bug in the upgraded
PHP, with a workaround (which appears to work for me).

This is an OpenPGP/MIME signed message (RFC 2440 and 3156)

I have seen the same error on an (externally managed) OpenBSD system
after I upgraded SquirrelMail to version 1.4.5; so it's not just OS X
Server which got affected by this PHP problem.

To get around the problem back then, I modified that particular part
of the SM source to avoid the troublesome PHP function; since then I
have upgraded to SM 1.5.1 which has completely new code and worked
out of the box.

Cheers,

Apple apparently fixed this in today's Security Update
<http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303453>:
