Faxing problems from Tiger
dbjarvis (apparently)
- 10:43am Oct 27, 2005 PSTvia emailI have a G4 and an early iMac G5, both running 10.4.2. I send a fax
every few months but now find I cannot do so on either machine. If I
Print from Finder, neither gives a Fax option, or any option. If the
"Fax List" is selected. the G4 shows the internal modem but the G5
shows nothing. The settings in the Print & Fax prefs pane look fine.
Can I get the fax back?

Re: Faxing problems from Tiger
If I want to send a fax now on 10.4 (vs. 10.3) now it is listed under "PDF" and is listed as "Fax PDF".
Hope this is what you're talking about. It still faxes like it used to in 10.3, but the name is different--whatever the reason for PDF doesn't seem to matter because it faxes what I want.

Re: Faxing problems from Tiger
It took me some time to find that solution.
But then I had another modem problem: due to some stupid mishandling on my
side (configurationwise) my G4 cannot locate a working modem anymore. The
status window just sits there "waiting for a working modem". Where has it
gone? How can I reinstall it?

Re: Faxing problems from Tiger
Faxing has even improved in 10.4. The monitor now offers a straightforward fax log. In earlier versions of the OS I haven't been able to find a fax log, which is really necessary especially in business solutions. After some months I found that there was a way to find the log, but it was hidden in a far away place, and Apple didn't help me to find it.
