Moving between base stations under Tiger
I seem to be having a problem with keeping connected to my network at home when I move between base stations, ever since I upgraded to Tiger. Now both my wife and I get the message saying that the network connection is not working, and asking us if we want to diagnose the fault. If we work through it, it then corrects itself until we move into the range of the other base station, then it happens again.
I have an aluminium PowerBook, and my wife has G4 iBook, both running Tiger. We have an AirPort Extreme base station, and an airport express base station (both updated to the latest firmware, but the problem was there with the previous firmware revision as well). The extreme is set up as a straight base station, but it doesn't distribute DHCP, as I have a router doing that. I have set the express up to "Create a Wireless Network (Home router)". Both base stations and the router are connected with ethernet, so there is no need to use wireless to extend the range of my current system.
I have bought the "Take Control of Your AirPort Network" book, some time ago, but have the latest version now, and that doesn't give me much help in working out what the problem is.
This was all fine under Panther, so does anybody have any ideas what what the problem is, and what I should try to resolve it?
[Nothing to do but wait, I believe. I've seen this discussed elsewhere, and the word is that Apple knows about the bug and will be fixing it, probably in 10.4.1. Sorry! -Adam]
Thanks
Charlie
