Recent Items scrubber?

Adam's interesting article on Service Scrubber prompts me to raise a
question for which I have not yet found an answer. The Recent Items
menu of OS X provides a handy way to get at applications which aren't
used regularly enough to warrant taking up space in the Dock. But it
can become cluttered with unwanted items, especially when one
accidentally starts an obsolete version of an app. The only solution
which Apple offers is to clear the entire menu, which has the
disadvantage of dropping those connections which are still useful.

Data for the Recent Items menu appears to be stored in
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist, but the format of
that file is not conducive to error-free manual editing.

Has anyone produced a utility which enables editing of the Recent
Items menu to eliminate unwanted entries?

Well, I use Launchbar to launch everything (and to switch apps, and to
send emails, and to play itunes, and to make phone calls...) but I
ALSO have my recent applications list set to 50, and I put it in the
dock.

I do this because on rare occasions I launch something I've downloaded
and then I don't know its name, or where it is (I don't install apps
to /Applications if I can help it and most apps never get out of a
download folder or temp folder). Having the recent application folder
in the dock means I can easily see what apps have been run recently..
or even not that recently... see their icons and their names.

Other than this use, I pretty much never use the dock, and I'm still
looking for a way to increase the pop-up delay on when the Dock appears.

Here is a similar question. I've tried using Default Folder to get a longer list of recent folders, but I find it slows down the Open/Save dialog considerably. Is there a way to get the Recent Folders item in the Finder's Go menu to display more folders? I'm still on Tiger.

Oh, and then I've got to ask why one would leave applications in a downloads or temp folder. Just don't want to take the time to move them?
