Security Update 2008-002 spells end to Zend Optimizer
Some may be aware that installing the Security Update 2008-02 on OS X Server 10.5 causes problems with PHP. Essentially it seems that Apple have replaced both Apache2 and PHP with new builds and these builds will run Apache2 at 64bit (assuming you have the right hardware). That should be good... ...unless you happen to have PHP applications that use the very popular Zend Optimizer where you will be told that Zend Optimizer isn't installed when in fact it is. Unfortunately, Zend have decided not to support 64bit OS X.
Your options? Re-installing a 32bit version of Apache2 might work or perhaps it's time to look at an alternate - we migrated to Ioncube yesterday!
People always bemoan Apple's lack of information on what is installed with updates but this one really is a "gotcha". In an ideal world, clone your server to be a test server, install the update there and test it out before updating the live box.
