First key press problems on other Macs

"Unfortunately, there have been numerous reports of the first key
press being ignored on systems other than the MacBook and MacBook
Pro, and this fix won't do anything for other Macs."

I have a 15" PowerBook (1.67 GHz PPC G4, OS 10.4.11) that has been having this problem for some time, even through several OS updates. The two times I've taken it in to the Apple store I was told it might be a software issue, and I should do an Archive and install.

That didn't fix the problem. Is there any more help you can point me to? I'd like to get it fixed, it can get really annoying.

I have had the same problem, and know others do, ever since I got my Powerbook G4 15" - also through several changes of operating system. I also note that the cursor or cursor arrow is slow to move after any typing. Also irritating. Don't know what the solution is either.

Re: First key press problems on other Macs

I have the first key ignored issue on both my Mac mini (Intel) and my
MacBook as well, Both are running leopard (haven't upgraded to 10.5.2
though) so it's apparently across the board. I've taken to just
pressing the shift key before doing anything, that way it's no
different from waking from sleep, and I don't lose any keystrokes
anymore.

Irritating, but not a show stopper.
