MacBookPro -- Strong as an Ox!!
via email - Dave Clark
I normally carry my MacBookPro Intel (18 months old) in a padded
envelope/case, then inside my briefcase, except when riding my
motorcycle and then the MBP goes into the saddlebags inside the
padded envelope/case. Parking and taking the MBP out of the
saddlebags has always presented the risk of dropping the computer,
and lo and behold, it happened again last week -- straight down and
landing on a corner.
Now, there's a very visible dent on one corner of the MBP, and it's
so big the top part has popped open a bit. But, the whole thing is
still working just fine!! Everything runs, the wireless connections
(Greetings!!), the optical drive still burns a CD, the HD is
functioning well, it's almost a miracle. I did go out and buy a
second external LaCie HD to immediately back up the thing again, keep
it on a schedule now, so if anything fails in the next year or so
before it gets replaced... well, hopefully won't lose anything.
