Migrating from Now Contact

[arthur]arthur - 10:17pm Jan 27, 2008 PST

I'm a long time user of Power On Software's Now Contact and Up-To-Date. I also use a Treo 650, provided by Verizon which officially "does not support Macintosh." Because I have over 3000 contacts, synching my Now Contact file is a laborious process because Now Contact's conduit for synching has a 1000 name limit.

I've recently tried using HandMark's Missing Sync product but found that the Now conduit causes even more problems, rendering it unuseable.

Has any TidBITS reader had success synching Now products with a Treo 650. If so, I'd love to know how.

If not, can anyone recommend a different contact manager that has numerous customizable phone fields plus -- ideally -- a way to preserve the individual "Notes" I've accumulated for many contacts?

All answers gratefully received.

Arthur Greenwald

Apple's Address Book.app does allow for numerous customizable phone fields
as does Chonos' "SOHO Organizer", which uses Apple's databases (or at least
syncs with them) for contacts and calendaring. I do not know if either one
would easily import the notes you have accumulated, but they both do have a
"notes" field.

"SOHO Organizer" used to have a free limited time trial so you could test
it out and see if it worked to your needs. After many years of using
Chronos I migrated away from them to Apple's software a while ago since
Apple's was free and I felt it had a fairly good chance of having a long
lifetime of wide support in terms of inporting/exporting etc.
