Office 2004 printing problem Intel Mac

[Green, Peter]Peter Green - 07:01am Nov 16, 2007 PST

When I print from Word with the latest driver for a Xerox Phaser 6110 I get two problems, that neither Microsoft or Xerox's support can resolve. Office is fine under 10.4 and trying that copy on my Intel Mac produces the same problem as using a different copy.

First the mini-preview screen in Print is blank. Second when printing I get an error message saying the margins are beyond the print area, they are not. If I select fix, the margins go from around 25mm to 300mm, and a blank sheet is printed.

Word and Xerox support tell me they have not heard of anyone else having this problem, which appeared on my new Intel PowerBook when I first used it and has persisted when, a few days later, I upgraded to Leopard.

Printing from Photoshop, Acrobat, Firefox and Mail are fine.

I have the same problem on a G4 Powerbook using Leopard - so it isn't
Intel related. Mine started when I did the latest auto-upgrade to
Office.

Just a shot in the dark, but have you tried throwing out the Word
preferences?

I am having a similar problem with Office 2004 after installing
Leopard.

Trying to print envelopes, the first four spaces from the left margin are
cut off.

Have you updated Office 2004 to its newest version?

Microsoft has published several patches that have to be installed one after another. I think the current version is 11.3.9. The "AutoUpdate" function might fail with Leopard, in this case you should be able to download the fixes from Microsoft's Mactopia web site manually.

This fixed the Office printing problems for me.
