Desktop pictures in Leopard

First abnormality I encountered was instability in the desktop
pictures. The Leapord screen picture is interesting but I prefer my
own pictures. So I went into the Desktop & Screen preference and
enabled my folder of pictures. They came up nicely, but on Restart
they were replaced with the Leapord picture. I could find no place to
'lock' my settings. Is this a bug and if so where would I report it to
Apple?
