Installing Timeslips 2007 in Parallels 3.0

via email - Dave Clark

I am trying to install Timeslips 2007 (a lawyers time & billing
application) using Parallels Ver 3.0 on this MacBookPro Intel OS X
10.4.10. WordPerfect 12 is already installed and works fine.

Windoze is XP SP2. Parallels is the latest, purchased yesterday.

When I insert the Timeslips disk, it should auto-run, but it
doesn't. So, I tried run>d:\timeslip\setup.exe [the correct path on
the disk] and got nowhere... nothing happens. I can hear the disk
spinning, but that's it.

Timeslips support suggests my CD drive is defective, but I'm now
installing music CDs into iTunes. Works fine, and am listening to
one of them now.

Windoze will not read the CD. I tried another CD (music), and
Windoze will not read that one either, using My Computer> right click
cd> nothing there. The Mac reads both just fine.

Any suggestions? Has anyone on this list Actually done this, that is,
installed and used Timeslips on a Mac using Parallels?

Really appreciate the help.

How about making an ISO disk image on the Mac of the CD, then
mounting that under Parallels?

I haven't tried installing the program you speak of but it sounds
like Parallels does not have access to your CD-ROM drive. From the
devices menu choose the CD/DVD-ROM option and then tell it to connect
your ROM drive. You should now be able to install the software
without any trouble.
