Downloading iTunes 7.4.2 guypat (apparently) - 12:32pm Sep 20, 2007 PSTvia emailDear TidBITS,
It has been my practice to utilize my
broadband network at work, on a PC, to download my Mac updates via .dmg
files onto a memory stick for transport to my dial-up iMac at home (I know, I'm a dinosaur.) However
when Apple made iTunes available on both PCs and Macs, whenever I try to
download an iTunes update, iTunes at work seems to only want to give me
the XP/Vista version which does me no good. I can't figure out how
to get my iTunes 7.4.2 .dmg file to my PC's memory stick. Any suggestions?
Regards,

If you go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download, it automatically
picks the iTunes for the system you're visiting the page on, but at the
bottom of the left-hand column, there's a link "Get iTunes for <other
OS>". Click that and you can download the Mac iTunes on a Windows
machine (and vice versa).

The download page defaults based on the OS it thinks you're running.
At the bottom of the text in the left hand column it says 'Get iTunes
for Macintosh'.

I'm on a Mac right now but when I go to the download page, http://
www.apple.com/itunes/download/ the big download button is clearly for
Mac OS X but below the Macintosh Requirements and Additional Video
Requirements, there's a link that says "Get iTunes for Windows." I
bet on Windows there's a link there that says "Get iTunes for
Macintosh."

http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/itunes742formac.html should do it.

This has become increasingly difficult recently. It used to be a
simple link right there next to "download" and with 7.4 it was nigh-
impossible to find it. However, when I load up the download page for
7.4.2 I see a link at the bottom of the page on the left that says
"Get iTunes for Macintosh". It's the last item in the left column
before the large white space before something like "iTunes in Spanish".
