VMware Announces Fusion 1.0 Release

Is there a good way to move a Parallels setup to a Fusion set up? I
don't want to have to reinstall and re-establish everything.

There seems to be. I haven't tried it *yet*.

<http://vmware.com/products/converter/>
(Free except for the version which does "mass" conversions.)

Converter is (mostly) being touted as converting from physical PCs,
but there is also this in its list of abilities:
"Convert Microsoft Windows based physical machines and third party
image formats to VMware virtual machines"

This forum posting says yes (for beta 4 of Fusion and a no-longer
current Parallels.
<http://www.vmware.com/community/thread.jspa?threadID=88195>
(a search for "parallels to fusion" on the VMWare site produced this
and others).

Side note: I just read a subheading on the VMWare site the way I
think someone there intended, after not noticing several times:
    "Install Windows on your Mac with unparalleled ease"
(If my competitor were not named Parallels, I might just say "easily".)

I haven't tried it myself but Fusion Converter, the free tool for
converting a physical machine to a Fusion image can also be used to
convert a Parallels "machine" to Fusion.

I found this detailed post specifically about using the tool with
Parallels.

I have used the Fusion Converter to convert from ||s to VMWare and found it pretty much trouble free, if a bit time consuming.

I did not mean to send the question, as I found my answer, the VMware Converter.

It actually worked very well, and was quite easy to use. I saw a
bunch of posts in the VMware boards that it would hang at 2% if you
had applied the Parallels disk compacting tool, but I had no problems.

I would heartily recommend it. Though it takes a bit of time, it is
unattended time.
