Rumour Site "MacOSRumors" Off The Air?

[mike.millard]mike.millard (apparently) - 01:11am Jul 24, 2007 PST

I have been going to the macosrumors scuttlebutt site for years now (though not as often in the last year or so, due to its fall in "quality").

Today, July/23rd, I aimed Safari at <www.macosrumors.com> and got this message:
"macosrumors.com expired on 07/16/2007 and is pending renewal or deletion."

Anyone know any more?

I haven't gone there in a while, but didn't they switch domain names to
<http://www.macrumors.com/>? Or is that a different site?

They looking for a buyer a year or so ago, and IIRC there were some
health issues for the original founder.

As far as I know, they never got any interest as they were expecting
a huge payoff (neighborhood of $1 megabuck comes to mind).

LOL Ryan's site has been on and offline many times over the years. He's been
trying to sell the domain for quite some time, too.

Completely different. No relation at all.

The site's owner has had many problems keeping the site going. He has few-to-no insiders feeding him info, most of the 'exclusive' rumors were just plain wrong, and he's forgotten to renew his domains more than once -- he lost mosr.com a few years ago and failed to bully the parody site mosr.net into giving him that domain before that.

Harro, <macrumors> is quite separate from <macosrumors>, and is very viable :-). (<macrumors> and <appleinsider> are the two "rumour" sites I check each day.)

When I first started looking at macosrumors, it carried a lot of information: some of which seemed to turn out accurate. For the last year or so, it has sounded like an IBM mainframe sales-oid of the 1970s—a lot of very general information, which might or might not be possible, and so much of "Gee, have we got lots of good stuff to tell you in our next report!".
