Apple Silences Mac OS X 10.4.10 Popping Sounds

I was first overjoyed and then saddened to hear about this patch.
Just this week, my PowerPC-based iMac (OS10.3.9) has started to
experience "popping" sounds on its INTERNAL speakers.

Drat.

I thought I'd might have a fix for that problem (which nobody seems to
know anything about).

If you want a work-around for the audio problem, here are two of them:

Fall back to these OS X 10.4.9 components using Pacifist:
/System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext
and
/System/Library/Extensions/IOAudioFamily.kext

or, instead, use the free utility:

KeepSoundAwake (free)
