Blowing Apple's horn

[E, Andrew]Andrew E - 10:27pm Jun 11, 2007 PST

The Economist blow's Apples horn in a big way in this week's edition. <http://economist.com/index.html> There are three articles: a leader 'Innovation - Lessons from Apple' and a special section, 'Apple - The third act' and 'The iPhone's features - Twiddling fingers'.

Not sure which will be accessible to everyone as I subscribe and can read them all. If a TidBITS staffer would like to read any that are not accessible, contact me direct.

I cannot remember ever seeing an edition give so much positive coverage of one company before.

Re: Blowing Apple's horn

The Economist articles are full of insights about Apple, and those insights are coming not from inside the Mac community, but from a business perspective. To boot, Apple also gets the front cover of the magazine. Highly recommended reading.

The Economist, by the way, is not just a business magazine. It’s (IMHO) the best weekly English news magazine in the world - makes such items as Time and Newsweek look like kid stuff by comparison.

Steve Jobs is "iGod" on the cover of this week's required reading for
hip & trendy yuppies (and wannabes), New York Magazine:

http://nymag.com/nymag/toc/20070625/

It's not as positive or insightful a story as the Economist's
articles, but it does add a lot of exposure for Apple among a core
audience for iStuff; and it's on the front about every newsstand and
check out counter in the NYC metro area (not that there are as many
newsstands as there used to be, unfortunately).

Couldn't agree more about the Ecomomist. Not only the best English magazine in the world, it probably offers the best use of modern English that exists (together of course with that other paragon of English style and usage, TidBITS).
