AirPort Extreme 802.11n Throughput Limits

Read with great interest your article about the 'Throughput limits of
Airport Extreme 802.11n'. What I remember when 802.11n was initially
announced that unlike 802.11g which is shared (dividing available bandwidth
over all users) 802.11n would be switched. Allowing in theory ever client of
an Airport Extreme 802.11n base station to use the 300 Mbps.

Even if you state the real-world throughput of AirPort Extreme would not
exceed 50 Mbps, it still would be a huge improvement if it was switched. I
have been looking but I haven't been able to find any information about it
in the "Designing AirPort Extreme 802.11n Networks" manual or on the
internet.

Does anybody know if Airport Extreme 802.11n is switched?

Re: AirPort Extreme 802.11n Throughput Limits

I just got my new Airport Extreme Base Station-N and wish I could respond with some user experience. Alas, after it went through (ultimately several repeated) setups succesfully it's amber light still blinks and there's no internet connection. The Apple site's forum lists plenty of entries about this device's inability to be the 1-2-3 experience Apple's known for. I plugged my trusted Airport Express back in and am back online, a useless and expensive paperweight shining appealingly beside it...
