iTunes audio plug-ins?

Me too. And moved my iTunes folder to the LaCie 80 external: to manage the 50 Jazz & Classic songs the eMusic "Gives" me each month on top of 5 days worth of archived CD's. With back ups to the 250GB drive that is just for that purpose.

So far, so good. BUT while there is a versatile frequency response equalizer there is no reverb; echo; wet or dry effects plug in for iTunes that I've ever seen. iTunes has been good but using Garage Band to record with I noticed it was possible to make my voice appear to be in an impressively large hall or in a freshly built living room with no drapes and a harsh, crystal clear sound. But Garage band is not a player: it's for recording and mixing; adding effects... and produces large files.

I'd like to get the best out of this collection by getting plug ins for a player or a DJ software. Most of those packages reek of impenetrable audio engineering jargon. Any suggestions for an understandable player that would make play lists off the Music Folder or backup and add an adjustable concert hall sound?

George

But, as I explained here:

<http://db.tidbits.com/article/7961>

...if you pass thru Audio Hijack Pro between iTunes and the speakers, you
can pass iTunes' output thru any of the included Audio Units effects on your
Mac - and these are the very same effects you are seeing in Garage Band -
and any VST effects you have (many are free), plus some others included
specifically by the RogueAmoeba folks.

I should just add that RogueAmoeba makes the very same technology as in AHP
available thru their other apps. So if you use Nicecast or Airfoil, you can
take any sound source on your computer and play it, passing thru these
effects, on another computer (on the local network or anywhere on the
Internet) or directly on your stereo system via an Airport Express. m.

Have you tried SRS's iWOW or OSS 3D?

I haven't tested them, but they claim to offer more equalization than iTunes
itself.

Re: iTunes audio plug-ins?

I've been enjoying using AirFoil to send streaming audio our library
subscribes to into my stereo, but I have found that I need to be careful not
to run simultaneously any chatty applications that might cause glitches to
occur when they interfere with the DSL-delivered audio stream. The Electric
Sheep screen saver is a prime culprit (I just turn it off when I'm listening
to music) and Entourage, which wants to synch with Exchange constantly
whenever it's running.

Just thought that might be a useful tip if anybody else has experienced
similar drop-outs. At first I was tempted to blame iTunes or AirFoil, but it
turned out not to be their fault.
