MPEG4 audio and the Mac

[andymccann]andymccann - 11:05am Jan 10, 2007 PST

My son made some movie clips in MPEG4 on a Sony T1 digital camera (i.e., it's not primarily a movie camera). When I imported the clips into iMovie on my Mac mini, there was no sound. So I tried my PC, and the clips imported with sound, and I have to say that MovieMaker worked well in assembling a short .WMV movie with fun transitions -- although it tended to freeze up and doesn't have an attractive interface. Is there a way to import the audio into the Mac, without doing anything too complicated? Or do I need to use my DV movie camera (which I was trying to avoid letting him play with!). Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Re: MPEG4 audio and the Mac

The VLC video player should play those MPEG4 videos without trouble.

Re: MPEG4 audio and the Mac

You need to demux an MPEG before bringing it into iMovie. It's very simple
with a free tool like MPEGStreamclip.
