How does one 12-15 second cuts from songs in iTunes to my razor M3. I
have an old G5 an OS 10.48?

Thanks
Jess

I'm not familiar with that particular phone, but with most of the phones I've used you can simply send them via Bluetooth using "Send File..." from the Bluetooth menu.

iTunes.

Set the start and end times on the track, make sure you are set to
"Import" to mp3, and then say "Advanced - Convert selection to MP3"

Don't forget to set the start and end times back on the original track.

I have about 10 I did this with, should do more.

Re: Transferring songs as ringtones

Depending on whether your phone is supported, there is a program called Bitpim which will help you do that through a compatible cable or through bluetooth ? if it's built-in on your phone. I have an LG VX8100, and I communicate through bluetooth and transfer everything to and from the phone; pictures, videos, ringers, calendar events, etc.

The program has a built in converter which will convert MP3 files to the appropriate filetype the phone uses, and you can "cut" the songs so you only transfer snippets of a song, this is done in a timeline manner so you have to listen to the song in iTunes and take note of which second of the song you want to start and what second you want it to end. Or if it's not a long song, you can use the whole song.

Check the link to see if your phone is supported, and read the disclaimer, it is open source software and it could render your phone useless.

If you Get Info on a track in iTunes and then select the Options tab you are
able to set start time and stop times. In can take some trial and error but
once you've happy with the result choose 'Covert selection to...' from the
Advanced menu and copy the new file to your phone. Don't forget to un-check
those same options when you're done either.

There are several ways to do it, but probably the easiest, and least
expensive way to do it, is to use:

Ringtone Chop Shop (free)

What Lewis said.

Also, set the bitrate to quite low (below 128), possibly to mono.

For ringtones, you don't need the quality, but since your phone storage space is quite limited, you do need the files to be small.
