MindManager Comes to the Mac

You missed the biggest negative which is the lack of parity with the Windows version. On the Windows side MindManager has some really powerful filtering and tagging tools. None of these made it to the Mac side. That's too bad too because this program is actually a joy to use with my Windows tablet PC.  As it stands now, the Mac version is good for some basic brainstorming but for more in-depth analysis, I'll stick to Tinderbox.

Re: MindManager Comes to the Mac

A 'New Kid on the Block' is iMindMap from BUZAN. The difference to MindManager is so immense I recommend you sit in a good solid chair, before your first trial; with both feet on the ground.

Pros: with all this competition the Mac Mind Mapper apps are bound to get better; including MindMangler ^?^:.

2) iMindMap is Java and looks great; the appearance is like HeadCase, NOT computer-like at all; almost looks hand drawn.

Cons: Early beta. If you want to exchange MMp's with MindManager or with NovaMind you may have to hire an intern, with OCR eyes, from a Co-op degree program OR request the facility from iMindMap Inc.

2) Still only basic functionality; but that is a future positive, isn't it: ask and ye shall receive.

Interesting points: outline display is built in, which may provide a document interchange process with some other apps, if 20 or more of us request it.

2) MindMapping doesn't seem to be a top priority of TidBits readers. You must have a powerful bias towards text. That is not an insult at all: in a room of 100 people there must be 1,000 different ways of mentally processing ideas, concepts & creations. NOVA ~ Mind ~ Manager ~ iMMp ALL provide a graphic MAP --> text OUTLINE for at least some of us to be able to communicate with each other: to & from our individual perspectives.

Thanks to Matt for his reviews of NovaMind & Mind Manager...

George

Re: MindManager Comes to the Mac

A document can be exported as a graphic or as text, but not in any complete and universal format such as XML.

The native MindManager file format is actually a zip file; change the name and uncompress the zip and you'll find an XML file inside (along with the XSDs for the XML) and some other stuff.
